Summary: The low pressure system that resulted in mild conditions of late has now moved into the northern plains states. Meanwhile, upper level high pressure is slowly building into the Pacific Northwest and northern California. This keeps the northerly flow above central California going. Latest soundings above the valley have winds out of the north at 43 MPH up at 18,000 feet. The northerly flow will continue through mid week then that off shore flow will continue through Wednesday. From Thursday and into the weekend, high pressure aloft will build in from the west. Look for temperatures in the low to mid 90s Wednesday through Friday. An upper low will then develop over southern California and Arizona, weakening the high and turning the surface winds on shore. This will result in temperatures lowering to near to possibly below average Sunday and Monday. By Monday night, a low pressure system will begin to move into the Pacific Northwest. After that, models are in a state of conflict. One model shows the low moving into the Rockies while a second model shows it moving into the Great Basin. A third shows a cold front moving through central California with a chance of showers. In any case, conditions early to mid week next week will be mild with possible below average temperatures.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Friday. Mostly clear and warmer Friday night through Tuesday.

Two Week Outlook: October 2 through October 8: Models indicate that the storm track will move into the Pacific Northwest, just clipping northern California during this time frame. This should lower temperatures enough for seasonal to marginally above average levels with very little, if any, chance of precipitation.
October: The month of October, according to the latest models, will have generally or at least marginally above average temperatures as high pressure remains over the Desert Southwest. The Pacific Northwest will have above average precipitation and above average temperatures. Central California will be squeezed between these two systems, so it appears we’ll have an equal chance of rain for the month, which shouldn’t range too far from average.
October, November, December: Looking out to October through December, models show marginally above average temperatures for central and southern California. Models also indicate precipitation will be near average with the main storm track moving through the Pacific Northwest.
Winds: Winds will be generally less than 10 MPH through Friday with periods of near calm conditions, especially during the night and morning hours.
Rain: Expect dry conditions indefinitely
