Summary: The strong upper high over Arizona has moved slightly towards the west. It is now centered over the Colorado River Valley. Central California will remain over the northwest flank of this high through Monday. Triple digits will continue to be widespread through Monday while torrid heat continues to bake southern California.
Tuesday will be a transition day as the southwestern high flattens out and a weak low moves into northern California. The high will slowly be suppressed southward as a low moves inland at midweek. With a little luck we could see double digits as early as Tuesday. The low will morph into a trough remaining over California, maintaining a decent flow of modified marine air into the valley. Low to mid 90s will be commonplace Wednesday through Saturday. the flow in the upper atmosphere will remain out of the southwest, allowing the air mass to remain very dry with cloudless blue skies.
Forecast: Clear and hot through Monday. Clear and cooler Tuesday through Saturday.

Two Week Outlook: August 6 through August 12: This model is indicating a weak trough of low pressure will be dominant along the west coast, resulting in near to marginally below average temperatures. A dry southwesterly flow will continue.
August: Typically, especially this time of year, long range outlooks by NOAA reflect the global warming madness. This model indicates above average temperatures and largely dry conditions.
August, September, October: Just like the 30 day outlook, this longer range outlook reflects above average temperatures everywhere, including California. This model does not reflect either above or below average precipitation, although as we head into September we will have to keep a closer eye on the tropics.
Winds Discussion: Winds through this evening will be mainly out of the northwest at 8 to 15 MPH with stronger gusts, mainly along the west side. Winds Sunday through Tuesday will be mainly out of the northwest afternoons and evenings at 5 to 12 MPH, becoming light and variable during the overnight hours.
Rain Discussion: Expect dry conditions for the next 7 to 10 days.
