Summary: The summer doldrums have really set in. there is just not a whole lot to talk about. A very weak upper low has now drifted to off the California coast while upper level high pressure stretches from Texas to southern California. The marine which had pooled the valley has mixed out. As a result, temperatures this morning are 3 to 5 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time. The marine layer has shrunk back to 1,700 feet. Winds are fairly light in the Delta. Central California will again end up on the northwest periphery of the southwestern high. Temperatures will slowly warm with hottest locations today through Monday warming into the lower 100s. a minor cooling trend will occur Wednesday and Thursday due to a weak trough moving into northern California. Even so, readings will still be seasonal. A couple of models are showing a minimal amount of monsoon moisture working its way into southern California about Friday of next week, but for now it appears central California will remain under a dry southwesterly flow aloft.
Forecast: Clear skies through Wednesday. Clear skies Wednesday night through Saturday.

Two Week Outlook: August 15 through August 21: This model indicates upper level high pressure over the desert southwest will be the more dominant feature, resulting in at least marginally above average temperatures. The monsoon is still nowhere to be found, so dry dusty conditions will continue.
August: Typically, especially this time of year, long range outlooks by NOAA reflect the global warming madness. This model indicates above average temperatures and largely dry conditions.
August, September, October: Just like the 30 day outlook, this longer range outlook reflects above average temperatures everywhere, including California. This model does not reflect either above or below average precipitation, although as we head into September, we will have to keep a closer eye on the tropics.
Winds Discussion: Winds through Tuesday will be mainly out of the northwest at 5 to 12 MPH afternoons and evenings and 3 to 6 MPH nights and early mornings with periods of near calm conditions.
Rain Discussion: Expect dry conditions for the next 7 to 10 days.
