The active weather pattern continues over the eastern Pacific. The latest storm to move inland is spreading a narrow band of showers from southwest to northeast through the Bay Area and up into the Sacramento Valley. The main band of energy is not too impressive. Showers will spread no further south than a Merced/Yosemite line.
The next Pacific storm will follow a similar path Friday, possibly spreading light showers down to a Fresno County line. Again, the south valley will remain dry.
The main body of intense low pressure will stretch from the Gulf of Alaska all the way down to southern California Sunday. Precipitation from this event will be widespread with as much as 4 inches of rain over the mountain areas from Tulare County north and possibly as much as an inch of rain over portions of the valley floor north of Kern County, mainly along the east side.
Models now show a ridge of high pressure building off the southern California coast Tuesday. This high will build progressively more to the north as we move through the work week. As a result, the storm track will move further north, as well, for a return to a dry weather pattern.
Forecast: Variable cloudiness at times through Saturday night. A chance of light showers from time to time north of Fresno County this afternoon and again Friday night. Increasing cloudiness Saturday night with rain likely Sunday into early Monday, possibly locally heavy at times. A chance of showers Monday night. Becoming mostly clear to occasionally partly cloudy Tuesday night through Thursday.

Two Week Outlook: October 28 through November 3: Models show a building ridge of pressure off the southern California coast during this period,, driving the storm track further north and returning us to a dry pattern with near average temperatures.
Winds Discussion: Winds will be generally at or less than 15 MPH and mainly out of the southeast through Tuesday. There is a chance of strong, gusty south to southeast winds late Sunday and Monday in the extreme south valley and along the west side.
Rain: Currently, light showers have spread as far south as Monterey with a narrow band of light showers moving through the Bay Area and into the Sacramento Valley. A few sprinkles could reach Fresno County, but no precipitation is anticipated over the remainder of the valley. A similar system will follow Friday night with a chance of a few light showers in Fresno County, mainly up until 11:00pm. A large body of low pressure stretching from the Gulf of Alaska to southern California will move inland late Sunday and Monday. The potential for precipitation is significant, especially for this early in the year. Estimates indicate possibly more than four inches of rain below the high snow level along the Sierra Nevada and even as much as an inch on the valley floor, mainly north of Kern County and along the east side. Most of the precipitation will have ended by Tuesday as high pressure takes over followed by several days of dry weather.
Frost: All locations will be above freezing tonight and each night for the foreseeable future.
