A series of disturbances is tracking from west to east across the eastern Pacific Ocean and into the Pacific Northwest. Each time this occurs, high clouds become evident over central California as they overrun high pressure over the Golden State. The marine layer along the coast has deepened enough to spill through the Delta and into the San Joaquin Valley. As a result, most locations will be a few degrees off yesterday’s highs. Another such system will ride inland to our north Thursday, pushing temperatures down into the 70s Thursday and Friday. Finally, over the weekend a weak ridge of upper level high pressure will begin moving north so by Sunday we’ll be back into the low to mid 80s. medium range models don’t show anything too exciting out there as fluctuations in the strengths and positions of lows and highs will be evident. The only real forecast challenge from day to day will be temperatures. No rain is anticipated for the next week to possibly ten days.
Forecast: Mostly clear to occasionally partly cloudy through Thursday. Mostly clear Thursday night and on through Tuesday of next week with occasional high clouds.

Two Week Outlook: April 28 through May 4: This model indicates a trough of low pressure will be moving into the western states, resulting in a chance of showers, mainly for northern California. Colder air aloft will also be associated with this feature, resulting in marginally below average temperatures.
May: This model shows a dominant high stretching from Texas to southern California, resulting in somewhat above average temperatures for the month. It also gives an equal chance of above or below normal precipitation.
May, June, July: This model shows an early season high over the Four Corners region of the desert southwest, stretching westward to California, causing temperatures as we head into summer to be marginally above average. Since this is the dry season, the chances of precipitation will be very low
Wind Discussion: Winds through Friday will be mainly out of the northwest at 10 to 20 mph afternoons and evenings with stronger gusts, especially along the west side. Winds during the night and morning hours will be out of the northwest at 5 to 12 mph.
Rain: Expect dry conditions for the next week to possibly ten days.
Frost: All locations will be above freezing tonight and each night for the foreseeable future.
