This week will be characterized by minor differences in temperatures, but that’s about all. Even though temperatures will remain in triple digits today, it may turn out to be the coolest day of the week. there is a weak low center moving through the Pacific Northwest which will temporarily weaken the high, allowing temperatures to fall into the lower 100s, possibly even upper 90s in Merced County. That county will receive a small burst of marine air through Pacheco Pass and through the Delta. Temperatures will once again begin to soar Tuesday as the high firms up and centers just off shore. By Wednesday through Thursday, the high will be directly overhead. This will allow temperatures to climb into the 102 to 107 degree range. Marginal cooling will begin Friday as the high begins to shift eastward. With a bit of luck, readings may fall into the mid to upper 90s by Monday as a weak trough of low pressure moves through the Pacific Northwest. By the middle of next week, the high will have set up shop over the Four Corners region, possibly turning the winds out of the southeast for another possible round of monsoonal moisture.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Thursday and continued hot. Mostly clear Thursday night through Monday.
