A weak trough of low pressure is currently moving through the Pacific Northwest. It has effectively shaved off the northern flank of our ridge of upper level high pressure. Even though the high has not completely broken down, it has weakened somewhat, allowing temperatures to lower closer to seasonal averages. The marine layer along the coast has deepened from 1,800 feet 24 hours ago to around 3,500 feet this morning. The combination of weaker pressure aloft and a weak onshore flow will cause temperatures to dip to near 90 this afternoon. The trough currently moving inland to our north will stall over the Rocky Mountain region as upper level high pressure off shore tries to build inland. California will essentially be on the eastern fringe of the high this weekend through early next week, maintaining temperatures generally in the lower 90s. forecast models do indicate the high will build inland by mid week. however, this will be a weaker version of what we’ve been accustomed to so for now, it does not appear temperatures will surpass mid 90s next week. there is absolutely nothing on mid range models to suggest a pattern that would result in active weather. Some high clouds will be visible today, but overall, skies will remain mostly clear for the next 7 to 10 days.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Sunday night. Mostly clear skies will continue Sunday night through Thursday.

Two Week Outlook: October 4 through October 10: This model doesn’t really give guidance for either above or below average rainfall, therefore the chance of rain will remain low. Temperatures will remain marginally above average.
October: This model is really a flip of the coin as far as precipitation is concerned and shows no real bias for above or below average rainfall. It does indicate somewhat above average temperatures will continue.
October, November, December: This model definitely has a bias for above average temperatures for the next 90 days. It also points to above average rainfall for northern California with below average precipitation for southern California. With that in mind, that gives California near average precipitation.
Wind Discussion: Winds during the late morning through the early morning hours will be variable to no more than 12 mph. winds during the night and early morning hours will be generally at or less than 5 mph with periods of near calm conditions through Sunday.
Rain: Expect dry conditions for at least the next 7 to 10 days.
Frost: All locations will be above freezing tonight and each night for the foreseeable future.
