Finally, the air mass settling over central California is more seasonal. Coldest ag stations this morning have dipped into the mid to upper 30s, ranging to the mid to upper 40s, mainly in Kern County. The air aloft is certainly cooler than recent standards. The freezing level over Oakland a short time ago stood at 7,600 feet. The weather this week will be quiet, but no big warm up is anticipated. Currently, there’s a weak upper high moving in from the west. This high is rather flat and every few days a system will move through the Pacific Northwest followed by a bounce back of weak high pressure. Really, the only real impact will be a warming of temperatures one day followed by two days of cooler weather, and so the story goes. Medium range models aren’t showing anything too exciting. For now, it appears the remainder of October will be rain free with pleasant temperatures.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Thursday. Mostly clear Thursday night through Monday.
