Temperatures will return to the low 70s this afternoon after an extended hiatus as weak high pressure shifts eastward across the area. There is a trough of low pressure approaching the coast of the Pacific Northwest which will spread light showers into northern California tonight and Friday. Light showers will spread as far south as the San Francisco Bay area later tonight and down to a Monterey/Merced/Yosemite line Friday. A few light showers will spread down the Sierra Nevada as far south as Kings Canyon Friday afternoon and evening, however the main impact on the growing area will be increasing clouds tonight and the warming trend will be blunted Friday. A high center will develop Saturday through Monday several hundred miles off the southern California coast with a ridge extending northeastward into California. This will result in Chamber of Commerce weather over the Easter weekend. Readings could reach the 80 degree mark Easter Sunday. If not Sunday, for sure on Monday. springtime in the world of weather means constant change as the seasons battle for dominance. Expect cooler temperatures Wednesday as the high breaks down in response to a trough of low pressure moving out of the Gulf of Alaska. Models then show a low forming off the central coast, moving inland next Friday and Saturday. That appears to be our next chance of showers along with much cooler temperatures.
Forecast: Other than occasional high, thin clouds, it will be mostly clear today. Increasing clouds tonight. Partly cloudy Friday with a slight chance of sprinkles as far south as Merced County. Mostly clear Friday night through Tuesday night. Partly cloudy Wednesday and Thursday.
