Summary: We continue to be under a very mundane weather pattern where any day to day change will be minor. Upper level high pressure continues to blanket the western half of the US and off shore. The air aloft remains quite warm for this early in the season. The balloon sounding taken overnight at Oakland registered freezing level of 14,300 feet. The marine layer along the coast is quite shallow with a depth of 1,300 feet. There is a slight intrusion of modified sea breeze moving through the Delta as the winds at Traverse AFT are out of the southwest at 18 mph. however, there is not enough difference in surface pressure to move that influx of cooler air down the valley. It will likely be next Thursday before temperatures trend back down to seasonal averages. Models show a low pressure system moving down the California coast next Thursday and Friday and possibly centering over central California next weekend. This would certainly give the Sierra Nevada a chance of showers with a slight chance over the valley floor. at this point, though, we won’t add that to the forecast.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Monday night. Mostly clear skies will continue Tuesday through Friday.

Two Week Outlook: May 26 through May 32 This model indicates temperatures will be close to average with near average precipitation, meaning the chance of precipitation will remain low.
May: This model continues trends during the month of May that we saw in April. Pressures will be lower than average along the west coast, resulting in the chance of above average rainfall and below average temperatures
May, June, July: This model doesn’t really move the needle either way for temperatures and rainfall over the next three months. being that we’re heading into the hot, dry season, it means little anyway.
Wind Discussion: Winds today will be generally out of the northwest at 8 to 15 mph. Winds tonight through Monday will be mainly out of the northwest at 8 to 15 mph with local gusts to 20 mph during the afternoon through late evening hours.
Rain Discussion: Expect dry weather for the next week to 10 days.
