Summary: A weak upper low is centered over Kern County this morning. doppler radar is showing very little active weather associated with this feature at this hour. However, models do show scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing over the Sierra Nevada and Kern County mountains later today through the early evening hours. The bulk of the system will slide into Nevada tonight and Monday, essentially ending the precipitation threat. A remnant low will remain just off the California coast for much of the week, slowing a warming trend. Overall, however, high pressure will blanket most of the eastern Pacific and much of the western US through Friday. Temperatures will incrementally nudge up through the week, rising to near 90 by Thursday with readings topping out in the low to mid 90s by next weekend. Models are showing a low pressure system moving out of the Gulf of Alaska and into mainly the interior west late this coming weekend and early next week for our next cooing trend but not before peaking in the low to mid 90s Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will dip into the lower 90s Sunday and possibility the mid to upper 80s Monday of next week. there will be daily chances of isolated thunderstorms over the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada due to snow melt.
Forecast: Variable cloudiness through tonight with a minimal chance of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms through this evening. Partly cloudy Monday morning. mostly clear skies Monday afternoon through Sunday.
Temperatures: Highs today and Monday will warm into the low to mid 80s, climbing into the mid to upper 80s Tuesday. Overnight lows will generally run in the upper 50s into the lower 60s.
