October 5, 2023 report

October 5, 2023

Summary A sprawling area of upper level high pressures covers the eastern Pacific Ocean and the western 1/3 of the US. One high center is off the coast of the Pacific Northwest with another over southern California. This high will govern central California’s weather through Sunday. High temperatures will range in the low to mid 90s which is nowhere near record territory. Records for this late in the season are still in the lower 100s. The high will begin to break down Sunday night and Monday as a trough of low pressure moves out of the Gulf of Alaska and into the Pacific Northwest. Showers will spread as far south as northwest California. Central California, however, will remain dry but cooler. Readings will fall back into the low to mid 80s by Tuesday. It appears a new high will shift eastward into California by Wednesday of next week, bringing with it our next warming trend.

Forecast Mostly clear skies through Sunday. Mostly clear Sunday night through Thursday.
