Summary: A channel of moisture with embedded showers has been feeding into northern California all day with showers from the north Bay counties northward. Central and southern California have been enjoying lots of sunshine with just some high, thin clouds. models show a subtropical feed of moisture moving from south to north, this time over central California, Wednesday and Wednesday night. A dry slot will open up Thursday and Thursday night for very little, if any, precipitation. On Friday, the main body of this cut off low will begin to inch its way towards the coast with periods of showers lasting through Saturday. This system is projected to move so slow that a chance of showers will last into Saturday night and possibly Sunday morning. On Sunday night and Monday, upper level high pressure well off shore will begin to build inland for several days of dry weather. If we receive a good enough soaking on the valley floor from this storm, our next challenge will no doubt be increasing amounts of night and morning valley fog.
Forecast: Mostly clear to occasionally partly before midnight. Increasing cloudiness later tonight with a slight chance of showers. Rain becoming likely Wednesday through Wednesday night. A chance of showers Thursday and Thursday night. Rain becoming likely again Friday through Friday night. Showers likely Saturday with a chance of showers Saturday night through early Sunday. Partly cloudy Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. Mostly clear Monday afternoon through Tuesday with at least patchy night and morning fog.

Winds: Winds will be generally at or less than 7 mph with near calm conditions tonight. Winds Wednesday and Wednesday night will be out of the east to southeast in Kern County will be 8 to 15 mph with stronger gusts. Winds Thursday through Friday will be generally out of the east to southeast at or less than 7 mph with stronger gusts near showers.
Rain: There is a chance of showers as early as the very early morning hours Wednesday. Models are continuing to indicate a swath of moisture will move up from the subtropics, resulting in periods of rain Wednesday and Wednesday night followed by a dry slot of weather Thursday and Thursday night. The parent low will finally make its move towards the coast Friday with periods of rain Friday through Saturday evening. The chance of showers will continue Saturday night all the way into Sunday morning before finally drying up Sunday during the day. Several days of dry weather can be expected Monday through Friday of next week.
Rainfall from this first batch of rain from tomorrow through tomorrow night should tally up a quarter and a third of an inch north of Kern County with a tenth or two over the valley portion of Kern County. Another quarter to a third of an inch with locally more is likely Saturday through Saturday night.
Frost: All locations will be above freezing tonight and each night for the next seven days.
