Summary: Satellite imagery is depicting most of the valley has cleared out except in Kern County where upslope clouds are banking up against the north facing slopes of the Tehachapi. High resolution model information indicates that most of these clouds will clear out tonight for mostly clear skies throughout the district. Dew points are higher than we’ve been used to so even though mostly clear skies will prevail, most locations will remain in the 30s with the possible exception of coldest locations which may briefly dip into the upper 20s. A large high pressure system is centered between here and the Hawaiian Islands. The high will continue to build eastward, bumping a very active storm track into the Pacific Northwest. The high, which has now taken control, will dominate our weather for the next week or so. With higher dewpoints, patchy fog will become more prevalent with occasional high clouds overrunning the high. Temperatures will warm incrementally, pushing the 70 degree mark by roughly this time next week.
Forecast: Other than partly to mostly cloudy skies tonight in Kern County, it will be mostly clear with occasional cloudiness with patchy late night and early morning fog. Mostly clear to occasionally partly cloudy all the way through Friday of next week with patchy fog during the late night and early morning hours.

Rain: Expect dry weather for the next 5 days and possibly longer.
Frost: Dew points are higher this afternoon than we’ve seen for a while. Dew points all the way up and down the line are in the upper 30s to the lower 40s. Even though it will be mostly clear tonight, lows will generally range in the low to mid 30s. However, it’s still possible that the lowest river bottom type location could dip into the upper 20s for short durations. Lows Sunday morning will be roughly the same to a degree or two warmer. As upper level high pressure continues to strengthen above California, temperatures will warm into the mid 60s by Monday. by Wednesday, highs will be pushing 70 degrees. The warming trend for overnight lows will be slower with readings generally in the 30s Monday and most locations in the mid to upper 30s by Wednesday. Longer range models continue to show nothing to be concerned about.
