Summary The center of circulation of upper level high pressure is over central Nevada this morning. To our west, a low pressure system continues to spin several hundred miles west/southwest of the central California coast. By Monday, a trough of low pressure will be entering the Pacific Northwest. That trough will dig southward into northern California Monday and will merge with the low off the central California coast, moving the whole mess inland Monday and Monday night for a chance of showers. The main dynamics with this system will be well to our north, so precipitation totals are expected to be fairly light. Beginning Tuesday and lasting through Thursday, high pressure will dig in from the west, resulting in mostly clear skies with temperatures warming to a little above average. In the meantime, a new storm will be developing in the Gulf of Alaska which will swing south/southeast into California by this coming Friday. This system’s origins are in the far north Pacific so snow levels may drop to as low as 2,500 to 3,500 feet by next Saturday. Another storm may affect us next Sunday and Monday.
Forecast: Other than patchy morning fog, skies will be clear through tonight. Increasing clouds Monday morning. showers becoming likely late in the day through Monday night. mostly clear to occasionally partly cloudy Tuesday through Thursday. Increasing cloudiness Thursday night. a chance of rain Friday, mainly in the afternoon. Rain becoming likely Friday through Saturday night. a chance of showers Sunday.
