April 22, 2024 report

April 22, 2024

Summary  today will be the warmest day of the spring season, so far. Relatively strong  upper level high pressure extends from  Baja northward across California and into the Pacific Northwest. The latest surface observation indicated the barometric pressure at San Francisco and Las Vegas were identical, meaning there is no chance of marine air spilling into the valley. Hottest locations this afternoon will be around the 90 degree mark. A cooling trend will begin Tuesday as a low center approaches the central coast by Tuesday afternoon, rapidly deepening the marine layer along the coast. This allows it to surge inland. As a result, temperatures Tuesday will be a good  8 to 10 degrees cooler. A second low will move through California Friday and Saturday, resulting in the likelihood of showers over the mountains, but for now it  appears the valley will remain dry. Temperatures will begin to warm again Sunday with readings rising to above average values by early next week.

Forecast Mostly clear skies through Thursday night. variable cloudiness Friday through Saturday. Mostly clear Saturday night through Monday.
