Summary A weak upper low off the south central California coast will move eastward across the southern half of California today and tonight. This system will add enough convection to the atmosphere for a chance of isolated thunderstorms over the Sierra Nevada this afternoon and evening. Otherwise, just partly cloudy skies and pleasant temperatures along with elevated wind conditions will prevail. A second system will drop southward out of the Pacific Northwest and into central California Friday afternoon into early Saturday. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will move down the Sierra Nevada. With the stronger daytime heating effect this time of year, it’s possible enough surface daytime temperatures will exist for a chance of thunderstorms over the valley floor. weak ridging will take place beginning Saturday and continuing through Monday. any warming will be minimal as a trough of low pressure will remain over the Pacific Northwest and will drop into California again Wednesday through Friday of next week, maintaining near to marginally below average temperatures.
Forecast Partly cloudy through Thursday night. variable cloudiness Friday through Saturday morning with a small chance of widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. Mostly clear Saturday afternoon through Wednesday of next week.

Two Week Forecast: May 1 through May 7: A persistent trough of low pressure will remain anchored over and along the west coast. This will keep temperatures near to below average with a greater risk of showers.
Thirty Day Report: This model gives equal chances of above and below average temperatures for the month of April. The chance of precipitation is slightly above average for the month.
Ninety Day Report: As we enter the dry season, this model predicts precipitation will be above or below average. There is no real trend to grab onto, so temperatures are expected to be near seasonal average.
Winds: Winds today will be mainly out of the northwest at 5 to 12 mph. winds tonight through Friday night will remain generally out of the northwest at 10 to 20 mph. stronger gusts are possible, especially along the far west side of the valley. Winds will decrease for the weekend, ranging mainly 8 to 15 mph with periods lighter winds.
Rain: The only chance we’ll have at measurable rain this week will occur Friday afternoon through early Saturday. A low pressure system crossing California Friday afternoon and evening will spread showers down the Sierra Nevada. The much stronger daytime heating process this time of year may add enough convection for a chance of isolated showers or even thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening. This appears to be one of those situations where most locations will remain dry. However, if your location is in the patch of an isolated thunderstorm, a quick quarter inch may be measured along with the possibility of small hail. Dry weather will return Saturday and will continue through at least Wednesday of next week and probably longer.
