April 26, 2024 report

April 26, 2024

Summary  As of the time of this writing, light showers were occurring in the south valley due to a weak trough of low pressure moving through. As the daytime heating process gets underway, scattered showers and possible thunderstorms may develop this afternoon through the evening hours. These storms, if they do develop, will be accompanied by heavy rain and small hail. Pressures are considerably lower over the interior than they are off shore so elevated wind conditions will continue through Saturday. Temperatures will continue to be 6 to 8 degrees below average then will begin to slowly warm next week as weak high pressure aloft begins to build in from the west. The pattern for next week appears tranquil. The current northwesterly flow aloft will be replaced by a westerly flow into California which in part will generate a warming trend with temperatures rising into the low to mid 80s by early next week. After tonight, a long period of dry weather will prevail as the storm track moves well to the north of central California.

Forecast Scattered showers today. Isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening. Scattered showers tonight before midnight with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Partly cloudy Saturday. Mostly clear Saturday night and on through Saturday of next week.
