March 29, 2020
Summary: Light showers continue this morning, mainly north of Kern County, and will continue for the remainder of the day. A relatively cold trough of low pressure is moving across central California. The main body of low pressure will be just to the east of the Sierra Nevada this evening, allowing dry weather to return tonight. upslope clouds will be prevalent, mainly in the south valley, tonight and Monday morning, due to a west/northwest push of air behind the low. However, by and large, Monday will be a transition day from the cold, unsettled pattern of the last few weeks into a dry pattern which will result in above average temperatures. A zone of upper level high pressure will cover the eastern Pacific Ocean across California and into the interior western U.S. through Friday. The flow aloft will be generally out of the west during the upcoming week as the main storm track rides over the top of the high and into Washington and Oregon.
By the late part of this coming weekend, some models project a sharp ridge will build northward into western Canada with a cold trough possibly forming over the interior western U.S. Whatever the model solution, no precipitation will develop for at least the next week to possibly ten days. The bottom line is, the first part of the month of April will be pleasant.
Forecast: Periods of light showers today, mainly north of Kern County. Partly to mostly cloudy tonight and Monday morning. mostly clear to occasionally partly cloudy Monday afternoon through Friday. Mostly clear Friday night through Sunday.

Two Week Outlook: April 4 through April 10: This model brings a higher than average chance of active weather back to California for a reasonably decent chance of rain. This model also indicates this will be a mild pattern with temperatures generally somewhat above average.
April: Typically, these models really do not offer a good handle on a weather direction. This particular model is even muddier than most. It simply indicates near average temperatures with near average rain over the next 30 days.
April, May, June: Like most longer range forecasts, above average temperatures are indicated over the next 90 days for most of the lower 48, including central California. This model gives equal chances of above or below average precipitation, but considering we are now into the dry season, it’s pretty much a moot point anyway.
Winds Discussion: Winds will be variable to 12 MPH today. Winds tonight through Wednesday will be generally at or less than 10 MPH with periods of near calm conditions, mainly during the night and morning hours.
