August 29, 2020
Summary: The weather pattern for the next week or so will be exceedingly boring. The very hot summer of 2020 will continue. We are now at the end of August and average temperatures have fallen into the mid 90s. most locations will range about 5 to 7 degrees above average for the next several days.
The southwestern high has drifted eastward and is now centered over Texas. Tropical storm Iselle will move northwestward off the southern Baja coastline and will dissipate off the central Baja coast by Monday morning. moisture from Iselle will move north/northeast into Arizona, possibly clipping southeast California. However, the winds aloft over most of the state are out of the southwest so no challenges from this system are anticipated.
The marine layer this morning is roughly 1,800 feet deep, but only minor amounts of modified sea breeze are moving through the Delta. Winds at Travis Air Force Base are averaging 15 MPH.
By the time we get to the middle of next week, a new weather pattern will evolve which will result in more hot weather. By Wednesday, a high center will be off the coast of the Pacific Northwest, stretching down over California. By Friday, some models show the high either over California or possibly over the Great Basin. Either way, this will ensure the first week in September will be similar to what we’ve experienced this summer with hot days and warm nights under clear skies.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Tuesday night. Mostly clear Wednesday through Saturday.
