Thanksgiving morning 2022 report

Thanksgiving morning 2022

For today and Friday, central California will be under a dome of upper level high pressure which will drive temperatures into the lower 70s at many locations today and, to a lesser extent, Friday. A weak ripple of low pressure will move through the high Saturday, lowering temperatures back into the mid 60s. By Sunday night, the high will begin to give way to a rapidly moving low pressure system from the Gulf of Alaska. Latest high resolution models show the bulk of the energy from this system and the greatest dynamics diving into Nevada just to the east of the Sierra Nevada. Snow showers are likely over the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada Monday afternoon into Tuesday with just a chance of light showers over the valley floor. More importantly, the air mass swinging in behind this system is quite cold and will bring the coldest air mass of the young season into focus Wednesday through Friday of next week. this far out, it looks like upper 20s and lower 30s are likely with a few of the coldest, unprotected locations touching with the mid 20s mark. Again, this is Wednesday through Friday of next week. we’ll monitor this closely.

Forecast: Mostly clear and hazy through Sunday night with a few patches of late night and morning fog. Increasing cloudiness Monday leading to a chance of light showers Monday afternoon into early Tuesday. Mostly cloudy Tuesday night through Wednesday. Partly cloudy Wednesday night and Thursday, possibly remaining mostly cloudy in Kern County and southeastern Tulare County into Friday.

Short term temperatures: Highs today and Friday will warm into the upper 60s to the lower 70s  Lows tonight will chill into the low to mid 30s. Highs Saturday will warm mainly into the high 60s with overnight lows mainly in the  low to mid 30s.
