Summary A weak low pressure system is approaching the California coast. This feature will move southward parallel to the coast today through Thursday. As it moves southward to our west, light showers may spread far enough inland to give a chance of showers. The best chance of showers will be along the west side and in Kern County, after this system moves through, a high will develop over the eastern Pacific and will ridge northeastward into the Pacific Northwest. This will be a progressive system, meaning on the move, allowing a weak trough of low pressure to move inland over the weekend. Any precipitation from this source will be well to our north. A trough of low pressure will move through Monday night and Tuesday. Light showers could spread as far south as Fresno County, so we’ll reflect that in our forecast for Monday night and Tuesday. After Tuesday, a stronger ridge of high pressure will build over the eastern and the western 1/3 of the US for a possible period of warm, dry weather which may last for several days.
Forecast: Mostly clear today. Increasing cloudiness tonight leading to a chance of light showers Wednesday and Wednesday night. partly cloudy Thursday. Mostly clear to occasionally partly cloudy Wednesday night through Sunday night. increasing cloudiness Monday leading to a slight chance of showers Monday night and Tuesday.

Two Week Forecast: March 12 through March 18: This model shows marginally above average temperatures for the southern two-thirds of California. This model doesn’t really lean towards above or below precipitation, so there’s just a minimal chance of showers.
Thirty Day Report: If this model has much credence, rainfall will remain above average, especially in northern and central California, stretching into the interior west. Temperatures however, look to be marginally below average.
Ninety Day Report: This model indicates near to marginally above average rainfall over the next three months. Equal chances are given for temperatures being above or below average.
Winds: Winds will be generally at or less than 8 mph with periods of near calm conditions through Wednesday night. winds Thursday will be out of the northwest at 8 to 15 mph through Thursday night with light and variable winds returning Friday.
Rain: There is a possibility of light showers Wednesday and Wednesday night from a weak upper low moving southward off shore. The best chance of measurable rain, low as it may be, will be along the west side and in Kern County. It still appears no more than .10 to .20 is likely, if it rains at all. Dry weather will return Thursday night and continue through Monday of next week. the next weather system of note will come in a trough of low pressure moving through Monday night and Tuesday of next week. For now, we’ll project a slight chance of showers Monday night and Tuesday. After Tuesday, it looks like dry weather will prevail for several days.
Frost: The coldest reading I could find as of 5;00 this morning was 35 at Sanger. Most other locations ranged from 36 to 40. Above freezing temperatures can be expected tonight and each night through the remainder of the week. longer range models all reflect above average temperatures for this week and next week as well.
Mid afternoon dew points: Low to mid 40s. Kern: Low to mid 40s.
