Summary The center of circulation of an upper level high pressure system is centered just off the central coast this morning and continues to shift eastward over California. The result will be significant warming which will peak Wednesday as readings move into the lower 80s. already, an upper low is developing in upper Alaska and will slide southward over northern California Thursday. Most models place the center of this system right over central California Friday. This will make for an active day as a pool of very cold air will lower the snow level down to 2,500 feet. Daytime heating will also increase the chance of thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening. Temperatures will drop from the lower 80s Wednesday to the lower 60s Thursday. Local frost may be possible Friday through Sunday mornings. A weak trough of low pressure will linger along the west coast through the weekend, continuing the risk of showers over the mountain areas and slowing temperature recovery over the valley floor. high pressure will take over by Tuesday for the beginning of our next significant warming trend.
Forecast Mostly clear and warmer through Wednesday. Increasing cloudiness Wednesday night. showers Thursday afternoon through Friday. A chance of isolated thunderstorms, mainly Friday afternoon and evening. Partly cloudy Friday night. mostly clear to occasionally partly cloudy Friday night through Monday. mostly clear Monday night through Tuesday.

Thirty Day Report: If this model has much credence, rainfall will remain above average, especially in northern and central California, stretching into the interior west. Temperatures however, look to be marginally below average.
Ninety Day Report: This model indicates near to marginally above average rainfall over the next three months. Equal chances are given for temperatures being above or below average.
Winds: Winds will be generally at or less than 7 mph with periods of near calm conditions through Wednesday. Winds Wednesday night through Friday will periodically be out of the northwest at 10 to 20 mph. Gusts exceeding 30 mph are possible near thunderstorms.
Rain: Dry weather will continue through Wednesday night. the chance of rain will increase from northwest to southeast Thursday afternoon. Periods of showers can be expected Thursday night through Friday. With a pool of very cool air overhead, isolated thunderstorm formation is possible Friday afternoon and evening. Any thunderstorms that do develop will be accompanied by locally heavy rain and small hail. Showers will come to an end Friday evening with dry conditions Saturday and lasting through next week.
Frost a very cold pool of air will be overhead Friday through Sunday mornings. It appears the air mass will be cold enough for low to mid 30s. in areas that see the proper conditions such as calm winds and cool skies. There’s a slight chance of an isolated river bottom to briefly toy with the 29-32 mark. However, the vast majority of locations will chill into he32 to 34 degree range. By Monday morning the air mass will have moderated enough for all locations to be above freezing.
