Summary: The current weather pattern is about as quiet as it ever gets. The features governing our current weather are very weak. There is a very weak trough of low pressure which will actually slide off shore over the weekend. The shallow intrusion of marine air that lowered temperatures intro the low to mid 90s yesterday will mix out today for the beginning of a slow warming trend.
The monsoon continues to move northward from old Mexico into New Mexico and the eastern half of Arizona. However, the winds aloft over central California are out of the west/southwest, ensuring there will be no challenges from the south anytime soon.
Upper level high pressure currently centered over Texas will shift a bit further towards the west, allowing minor increases in pressure. This will allow temperatures to lower into the lower 100s Sunday through Tuesday. For Wednesday through Friday of next week, central California will be sandwiched between a weak trough of low pressure off shore and the typical summertime high over the Four Corners region. As long as this basic pattern is in place, a very dry southwesterly flow aloft will continue. We should see minor cooling by Wednesday as the off shore trough moves closer to the coast.
Forecast: Clear skies through Monday. Mostly clear Sunday night through Friday.

Two Week Outlook: July 30 through August 5: Upper level high pressure will be entrenched over the Desert Southwest. The monsoon will be active over Arizona and possibly even into southern California. Temperatures under this regime will run marginally above average with no rain expected.
August: Typically, especially this time of year, long range outlooks by NOAA reflect the global warming madness. This model indicates above average temperatures and largely dry conditions.
August, September, October: Just like the 30 day outlook, this longer range outlook reflects above average temperatures everywhere, including California. This model does not reflect either above or below average precipitation, although as we head into September we will have to keep a closer eye on the tropics.
Winds Discussion: Winds through this evening will be mainly out of the northwest at 8 to 15 MPH with stronger gusts, mainly along the west side. Winds Saturday through Monday will be mainly out of the northwest afternoons and evenings at 5 to 12 MPH, becoming light and variable during the overnight hours.
Rain Discussion: Expect dry conditions for the next 7 to 10 days.
