Northern California is experiencing what we had yesterday. Heavy cloud cover has moved northward with light showers occurring over the eastern Sacramento Valley and a few over the Bay Area. Skies have cleared over the southern 2/3 of the area. The monsoon has very temporarily dried up over southern and central California with the next waiting in the wings in northwest Mexico. A large high is centered over Colorado and Nebraska. It essentially covers the western 2/3 of the US. Even though skies have cleared, the flow in the mid and levels is still out of the south/southeast. Occasional batches of monsoon juice will work their way north/northwest over southern and central California late Wednesday through Saturday. the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms will again increase over the mountains and deserts of southern
California and the Sierra Nevada. Just like yesterday, sprinkles will be possible beginning late Wednesday night and lasting through Saturday along with a slight chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms. Incidentally, the highest rainfall total I could find from yesterday was .01 at Blackwell. When it rains. It pours.
There is one piece of good news. That is the fact that models are beginning to trend towards a cooler pattern with lower humidity which may actually last for a while
