Due to ongoing health problems, (and ongoing and ongoing) two a day reports will be issued only on an as-needed basis during this year’s frost season. We sincerely hope this doesn’t create any problems with your business. As always, you can call for updates when you deem necessary. Should a medical appointment cause us to be out of the office during the morning, we will let you know. Thank you once again for your continued patience.
November 1, 2021
A trough of low pressure and its associated cold front are approaching the northern California coast. Light rain has spread over much of northern California and is approaching the central coast at this hour. This system will lose its dynamics along the southern portion of the front, resulting in only a chance of light showers this afternoon and evening, mainly from Fresno County north. Any locations that do receive precipitation will likely record no more than .10.
A flat zone of upper level high pressure will fill in from the west Tuesday and Wednesday. The air mass behind today’s frontal passage will only lower temperatures by a degree or two. Temperatures will rise 2 to 3 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday under weak high pressure aloft.
Later Wednesday night and Thursday, a second trough of low pressure will move into the Pacific Northwest and northern California. The southern limit of precipitation is expected to dip down to roughly a Bay Area/Sacramento line and we will remain just south of an active storm track. A strong westerly flow in the upper atmosphere will steer moist Pacific storms into the Pacific Northwest and northern California Thursday through Sunday. As usual, we will be just south of the zone of active weather and will remain dry with near average temperatures for early November.
There is some indication the jet stream may buckle around the middle of next week, allowing a stronger storm to penetrate southward into central and southern California. That appears to be our only chance of rain for the next 10 days.
Forecast: Variable cloudiness through tonight with a small chance of light showers, mainly from Fresno County north. Mostly clear Tuesday through Wednesday with patchy night and morning fog. Variable cloudiness at times Thursday with partly cloudy skies Thursday night through Monday.

Two Week Outlook: November 8 through November 14: the storm track will continue through the Pacific Northwest and northern California. Northern sections of central California have a chance of showers, but by and large, this is a drier forecast. Temperatures will remain above average.
Wind Discussion: Winds during the late morning and afternoon hours will be generally at or less than 10 MPH through Thursday. Winds during the night and morning hours will be generally at or less than 7 MPH with periods of near calm conditions.
Rain: there is a small chance of scattered light showers, mainly from Fresno County north, this afternoon and tonight. Dry weather will return for the remainder of the week as we will remain just south of a west to east storm track. It appears our next chance of a significant rain event may occur about Tuesday night or Wednesday of next week as the jet stream buckles, allowing a more dynamic storm to move into central and southern California.
Frost: All locations will be above freezing tonight and each night for the foreseeable future.
