Already, midday temperatures are topping the 80 degree mark. That will put the hottest locations near 90 this afternoon and again Thursday afternoon. The high will marginally weaken Friday and Saturday. This will begin to incrementally lower temperatures. Even so, if models have a good grip on things, high temperatures will remain above the 80 degree mark through Monday. there is still not much model consensus on next week’s rain event. Monday afternoon and night look to be the best window of opportunity. One model gives a chance of significant precipitation to the southern Sierra Nevada and, to a lesser extent, the Kern County mountains with possibly a good soaking in the southern half of the San Joaquin Valley. The low will track into the southern Great Basin and desert southwest Tuesday. models show a weaker version of high pressure moving into central California the beginning of next week with the storm track migrating back into the Pacific Northwest. This upcoming storm event will also be one the mild side with temperatures only falling back into the lower 70s Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Saturday night. Partly cloudy Sunday. Increasing cloudiness Sunday night with a chance of showers after midnight. Periods of rain Monday and Monday night with a chance of isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms. A slight chance of showers Tuesday morning. Becoming mostly to partly cloudy Tuesday afternoon.

Wind Discussion: Winds through Saturday will be mainly out of the northwest afternoons and evenings at around 5 to12 mph. during the night and morning, winds will be generally at or less than 5 mph with periods of near calm conditions.
Rain: Dry weather will continue through Sunday. There is a chance of showers Sunday night after midnight. The center of circulation is still projected to move over the valley Monday afternoon and evening. If there are breaks in the overcast, it would result in heavier showers and thunderstorms. This event could be fairly significant, especially if thunderstorms form. The chance for hail is somewhat less should thunderstorms form as this is a warmer system. The chance of rain will decrease by Tuesday morning with dry weather for several days.
Frost: All locations will be above freezing tonight and for at least the next week.
