I doubt you remember this, but this day in 1910 Fresno reached 100 degrees, which was the earliest triple digit reading on record. No such luck today, even though we will begin a warming trend as we now find ourselves on the eastern rim of upper level high pressure off shore. The storm that brough significant precipitation has already raced eastward and is centered over South Dakota this morning. The air aloft is still relatively cold with a freezing level at 7,700 feet. The air aloft will begin to warm today as a dome of upper level high pressure moves inland. Readings will top out at near 80 Sunday then will drive into the mid to upper 80s Monday.
A weak trough of low pressure will move through Tuesday. However, the only impact will be a shallow intrusion of marine air and somewhat cooler temperatures on the valley floor. Another weak ripple of low pressure will zip through about Thursday night, lowering temperatures to near to marginally below average. For now, there’s no precipitation in sight as the overall picture will be a flat high off shore with the storm track remaining north of California.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Wednesday with occasional high clouds. Mostly clear Wednesday night through Saturday.

Two Week Outlook: April 28 through May 4: This model indicates a trough of low pressure will be moving into the western states, resulting in a chance of showers, mainly for northern California. Colder air aloft will also be associated with this feature, resulting in marginally below average temperatures.
May: This model shows a dominant high stretching from Texas to southern California, resulting in somewhat above average temperatures for the month. It also gives an equal chance of above or below normal precipitation.
May, June, July: This model shows an early season high over the Four Corners region of the desert southwest, stretching westward to California, causing temperatures as we head into summer to be marginally above average. Since this is the dry season, the chances of precipitation will be very low
Wind Discussion: Winds during the afternoons and evenings will be mainly out of the northwest at 5 to 15 mph through Monday. Winds during the night and morning hours will be generally at or less than 8 mph with periods of near calm conditions.
Rain: Expect dry conditions for the next week to possibly ten days.
Frost: All locations will be above freezing tonight and each night for the foreseeable future.
