The dome of upper level high pressure responsible for widespread triple digits yesterday is already shifting into the Great Basin. High resolution model information is indicating most locations will heat into the upper 90s today. Most of this will be due to synoptic cooling, then on Friday, pressures will fall over the interior, tugging the marine layer through the Delta and other gaps and passes through the Coast Range for significant cooling. By Saturday, most locations will only warm into the mid 80s as a trough of low pressure extends from the Pacific Northwest down into California. By Sunday, there will be a chance of showers over the northern ¼ of California, but the trough here will just be marked by mid and high level clouds. Temperatures will remain fairly moderate through the middle of next week. the next ridge of high pressure will move through late Tuesday with a low center over the Great Basin Wednesday and Thursday. Upper level high pressure will again be building by next Friday for a warming trend.
Forecast: Mostly clear today. Mostly clear to occasionally partly cloudy tonight through Friday night. Mostly clear Saturday and on through Thursday of next week.

Two Week Outlook: June 2 through June 8: a flat zone of upper level high pressure will be over the eastern Pacific and California, resulting in somewhat above average temperatures with dry weather prevailing.
May: This model shows a dominant high stretching from Texas to southern California, resulting in somewhat above average temperatures for the month. It also gives an equal chance of above or below normal precipitation.
May, June, July: This model shows an early season high over the Four Corners region of the desert southwest, stretching westward to California, causing temperatures as we head into summer to be marginally above average. Since this is the dry season, the chances of precipitation will be very low
Wind Discussion: There will be periods of winds out of the northwest at 10 to 20 mph through Saturday with locally stronger gusts. Winds during the night and morning hours will be somewhat lighter at around 8 to 15 mph. Winds Sunday will decrease to around 5 to 15 mph with locally stronger gusts.
Rain: Expect dry conditions for at least the next 7 to 10 days.
Frost: All locations will be above freezing tonight and each night for the foreseeable future.
