The marine layer along the coast has now deepened enough to allow a shallow intrusion of modified sea breeze to move down the valley. The result will be a minor cooling trend. The cooling will be most pronounced today from Merced north as they have a nice air conditioning vent known to most as Pacheco Pass. Currently, winds there are sustained at 18 mph. it will be noticeably cooler Saturday as readings drop into the mid to upper 80s. enjoy the mild weather as a heat wave is on the horizon. By the middle of next week, upper level high pressure off shore will be building a ridge northward and eastward. By Thursday night and Friday, there will be two high centers: One off shore and one over the Great Basin. We may see triple digits as early as Thursday with Friday and Saturday seeing temperatures well above the century mark. This far out it’s difficult to nail down exact temperatures, but hotter locations may be at around 105 or so Friday and Saturday. By a week from Sunday, the high will be suppressed southward by a trough of low pressure moving into the Pacific Northwest for our next cooling trend.
Forecast: Mostly clear to occasionally partly cloudy through Sunday. Mostly clear Sunday night through Friday with a warming trend.

Two Week Outlook: June 9 through June 15: This model is depicting a rather strong ridge of high pressure over the Desert Southwest and the eastern Pacific Ocean. Temperatures will rise to above average with the usual dry weather continuing.
June: This model shows a high center over New Mexico and Texas extending into California for marginally above average temperatures for the month with the usual dry conditions prevailing.
