That same band of energy we discussed on this morning’s report is still in place this afternoon. Light showers come on shore from roughly Vandenburg northward to near San Simeon with light showers moving from south to north through western Kings County and much of Madera and Fresno Counties. So far, Kern and Tulare Counties remain dry as they are just east of that band of showers. This is a rather interesting system as satellite imagery is showing the band of showers way out away from the center. The center remains roughly 200 miles west/northwest of San Francisco. Models keep it pretty much in place through Tuesday then show it accelerating to the northeast Tuesday night and Wednesday. by Thursday, this puppy should be over Montana. Temperatures at midday are only in the mid to upper 70s. Places like Avenal and Lost Hills are only in the mid to upper 60s due to precipitation. Temperatures will remain very October-like through Thursday then will warm up fairly quickly beginning Friday as a large dome of upper level high pressure over the eastern Pacific builds into California. Readings will approach 90 as early as Saturday then will level off in the low to mid 90s Monday through Wednesday of next week. there are models suggesting triple digits again later next week, but there’s no consensus on that.
Forecast: Light showers will continue over Kings, Fresno, Madera, and Merced Counties this afternoon. Kern and Tulare Counties will remain largely dry. A chance of showers Tuesday, especially during the morning. Partly cloudy Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Mostly clear Wednesday night through Monday.
Temperatures: Lows tonight will cool mainly into the low to mid 60s. Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will range mostly in the low to mid 80s. Lows Monday night will cool into the mid 50s to near 60.
