If you liked yesterday, you’ll like the weather through at least Monday. two main features are governing our weather. First is a stationary low over Idaho and a large ridge of upper level high pressure stretching from the eastern Pacific to British Columbia. This puts California in a dry, northwesterly flow aloft, maintaining marginally above average temperatures through Monday. at the surface, the marine layer at Monterey is 2,100 feet deep. This is certainly deep enough for that sea breeze to spread inland. Unfortunately, the difference in pressure between the coast and the interior is essentially flat, so the cooling that began yesterday is synoptic and not marine driven. Models do show the low over Idaho finally moving off to the northeast by Wednesday. This will allow the off shore ridge to build inland for another warming trend. It appears readings will again move into the mid to upper 90s by early next week. otherwise, a blocking ridge of high pressure will remain over the eastern Pacific and western US. If you would like one last peek at rainfall stats, they are below as we begin a new rainfall water year today.

Two Week Outlook: October 7 through October 14: This model doesn’t really give guidance for either above or below average rainfall, therefore the chance of rain will remain low. Temperatures will remain marginally above average.
October: This model is really a flip of the coin as far as precipitation is concerned and shows no real bias for above or below average rainfall. It does indicate somewhat above average temperatures will continue.
October, November, December: This model definitely has a bias for above average temperatures for the next 90 days. It also points to above average rainfall for northern California with below average precipitation for southern California. With that in mind, that gives California near average precipitation.
Wind Discussion: Winds during the late morning through the early morning hours will be variable to no more than 12 mph. winds during the night and early morning hours will be generally at or less than 5 mph with periods of near calm conditions through Tuesday.
Rain: Expect dry conditions for at least the next 7 to 10 days.
Frost: All locations will be above freezing tonight and each night for the foreseeable future.
