November 22, 2022
Temperatures have been below average, especially at night. Warmer than average temperatures will finally begin over the holiday weekend. It’s unclear just what temperatures will be like next week as the high will break down Sunday night allowing two weather systems to affect central California. The first will arrive Tuesday morning, however precipitation ahead of the system could produce rain Monday afternoon or night. The second low will drop southward parallel to the coastline and park off the coast of the Pacific Northwest then southward into northern California Thursday night and Friday. The air behind this system has its origins in the Gulf of Alaska so we will have to watch temperatures once this system moves through.. the GFS model shows it moving southward parallel to the coast then will retrograde further off shore. It will finally move inland, but not until after next weekend. At any rate, rain is on the way. Expect the blessing of raindrops and mountain snow the few times we receive it.
Forecast: Variable high and mid level clouds through Tuesday. Mostly clear Wednesday night through the holiday weekend. Increasing cloudiness Monday with a chance of rain in the afternoon. Rain likely Monday night and Tuesday.

Wind Discussion: Winds during the late morning and afternoon hours will be generally less than 7 mph with periods of near calm conditions. During the night through midmorning hours, winds will be generally less than 5 mph with extended periods of near calm conditions.
Rain: This afternoon’s models don’t picture as much rain as earlier models had indicated. Even so the first storm will spread precipitation into the area as early as Monday afternoon, continuing on and off through Tuesday. There will be a chance of showers Tuesday night through Friday.
Frost: It’s possible lows tonight may be a bit warmer than anticipated. I lean low just to play it safe, but cloud cover will enter the picture for the first time in a while. If they stay together, the radiational cooling process will be inhibited, resulting in milder overnight lows. Since every night this month has been a frost night, if clouds do remain above and give that protective blanket, causing lows to be above freezing. However, if they open up into clear skies, expect pretty much the same theme. Models still indicate warmer conditions for the holiday weekend. They show lows trying to climb, however minimum temperatures are always harder to forecast.
