Daytime heading has spawned some light showers over the central and south valley this afternoon. These showers will diminish at sunset or shortly thereafter. Weak upper level high pressure will push in from the west and will govern the weather over central California through the weekend. A weak inside slider will move through the Great Basin Saturday night and Sunday for a chance of showers over the high country, but not over the valley. Another major Pacific storm will be just off the northern California coast Sunday night, spreading rain down to a Merced line Monday evening and over the remainder of the valley late Monday night and Tuesday. Showers will continue well into Wednesday as the low moves almost directly overhead. A strong difference in pressure will set up Monday night and Tuesday between the north coast and southern California. This will spawn strong,, gusty winds up the valley and possibly near the base of the Tehachapi Mountains. We’ll study the configuration as we approach the time frame. A zone of upper level high pressure will begin to build in from the west Tuesday night and Wednesday. Current modeling indicates dry weather will prevail at least into the following weekend.
