Summary With a little luck, temperatures will fall into double digits today and will remain below the century mark through Friday. Upper level high pressure has migrated further east, allowing a weak trough of low pressure to settle in over and off the west coast. The marine layer is over 3,000 feet deep now and will have no problem surging through the Delta and other gaps and passes along the Coast Range. However, this will be a short lived situation as high pressure over the southern plains states will again expand westward by the early part of the weekend. It will move into the Golden State by Sunday. Triple digits will again become a way of life by Sunday and will be likely by Monday. models do show the high being displaced again by the middle of next week for our next cooling trend.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Friday with a cooling trend. Mostly clear and warmer Friday night through Saturday night. Mostly clear and warmer Sunday through Tuesday. Mostly clear Wednesday.

Two Week Outlook: August 9 through August 15: This model shows a weak trough of low pressure over the Pacific Northwest, extending southward to off the southern California coast. A weaker very of upper level high pressure will be over the Desert Southwest. This pattern should result in near average temperatures with the dry conditions continuing.
July: Typically, this time of year there is absolutely nothing going on in the world of weather. Temperature forecasts are the main forecast challenge. For now, the usual dry conditions will prevail with temperatures near to marginally above average
July, August, September: The monsoon into the Desert Southwest and occasionally California is what we carefully watch this time of year, especially during August and September. This model is currently showing below average precipitation over Arizona and New Mexico. This indicates there will be less of a chance of the monsoon visiting California this summer. Temperatures are expected to range above average.
Wind Discussion: During the late morning through the late evening hours, winds will be out of the northwest at 8 to 15 mph with local gusts to 20 mph through Saturday. During the night and early morning hours, winds will be mainly out of the northwest at 5 to 10 mph with locally stronger gusts.
Rain Discussion: Expect dry conditions for at least the next week.
