April 1, 2024 report

April 1, 2024

Summary  This week will be divided into two distinctly different weather patterns. High pressure will build in from the eastern Pacific through Wednesday, resulting in mostly clear skies with a warming period. High temperatures Tuesday will push into the upper 70s. By Wednesday, warmest locations on the valley floor will eclipse the 80 degree mark. That will all come to a grinding halt by Thursday as a cold low slides down the west coast and into California. Models by Friday place the center of circulation right over central California with a pool of very cold, unstable air over that mark. Snow levels will plummet from 6,000 feet Thursday down to 2,000 Friday with a pool of cold, unstable air right over central California during the time of maximum daytime heating. This will increase the chance of thunderstorms Thursday and Friday afternoons. The low will move off to the east over the weekend only to be replaced by a weaker low which will blunt a warming trend which will hold off until next week.

Forecast Mostly clear skies and warmer through Thursday. Partly cloudy Wednesday and Thursday. A chance of showers Thursday night and Friday with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Partly cloudy Friday night. becoming mostly clear Saturday through Monday.
