November 3, 2018
Summary: Temperatures are running 3 to 5 degrees cooler this afternoon north of Kern County and about the same as yesterday in Kern County. There is currently a weak wave of low pressure moving through the interior west, weakening the high just a tad, thus the minor cooling trend which is shaping up to be a one day event. In the big picture, upper level high pressure will remain off the southern California coast for the next week. That’s far enough to our southwest to allow a northwesterly flow to develop. Embedded within this flow will be weak waves of low pressure which will move through the Pacific Northwest then southeast into the interior west from time to time for the next seven days. The next of these will move through Monday with only high, thin clouds to mark its passage. The high will be a bit more to our southwest than this week, so most days Monday through Saturday of next week will probably average in the mid to upper 70s. this is still above seasonal average. Most of the rest of the country is currently experiencing near to below average temperatures as a big trough covers the interior western United States through the Midwest.
It still appears unlikely precipitation will occur during the next ten days, although as mentioned this morning there is a small chance of light showers around the 12th or 13th though that appears to be a longshot at this time.
The two week outlook which came out this afternoon does not show any signs of encouragement for a pattern which would result in even a small chance of precipitation other than that which we’ve already mentioned.
Forecast: Outside of occasional high, thin clouds, it will be clear through Wednesday. Generally clear skies will continue Wednesday night through Saturday.

Winds: Winds will be at or less than 12 MPH through Wednesday with periods of near calm conditions.
Rain: Expect dry conditions for at least the next week to ten days.
Frost Information: There will be no chance of frost for the next week. There are some models showing a significant area of low pressure diving southward through the Great Basin just after Veteran’s Day, positioning the low over southern California the twelfth and thirteenth. While this is occurring, an upper high will build northeastward into western Canada, briefly turning the winds aloft out of the northeast. This could, in theory, driving colder and drier air into the valley, possibly resulting in local frost beginning the thirteenth. Other models don’t show this at all. For now, it’s something I believe bears watching.
Lows Tonight:
All locations will be above freezing tonight.
