Summary: Temperatures continue to recover with the exception of overnight lows. Even though dew points are now basically back in the 30s, the pool of air now trapped on the valley floor is now dry enough to allow overnight lows to drop to somewhat below average. The coldest ag stations I could find as of 6:00am was Exeter at 34 while Ivanhoe and Maricopa were sitting at 35. The air aloft also continues to warm as the freezing level over Oakland this morning was 13,900 feet.
Surface high pressure remains over the Great Basin, although it is not as strong, thus the off shore flow also continues. Winds along the summit of the Sierra Nevada are out of the east/northeast generally ranging 10 to 20 MPH. The current pressure reading at Salt Lake City stands at 30.25 inches of Mercury while LAX was reporting 30.08, illustrating the off shore flow. At the upper levels of the atmosphere, relatively strong upper level high pressure is just off the Oregon/northern California coast. That big cold low has shifted eastward into northern Texas.
The off shore high will continue to build inland over the next 72 hours, allowing temperatures on the valley floor to eclipse the 80 degree mark through the weekend even though a weak upper air feature will move through southern California late Saturday and Sunday. It still appears a weak trough will move through here next Tuesday for a minor cooling trend, but little else. Some models are showing wet weather in California between November 7 through the 10.

Two Week Outlook: November 3 through November 9: This model flips us back into more of an amplified pattern with high pressure over the west and a colder trough east of the Rockies. Therefore, rain appears unlikely during this period with a return to above average temperatures.
October: This model essentially depicts the entire lower 48 with above average temperatures over the next 30 days. The most pronounced temperature anomalies will be over the Desert Southwest. This model also suggests there will be an equal chance of above or below average precipitation.
October, November, December: This model reflects the influence of La Nina. It paints above average temperatures over much of the country, especially the Desert southwest, and to a lesser extent, central California. Drier than average conditions are anticipated over southern California while northern California could possibly luck out with near average rainfall. Above average precipitation is expected over the Pacific Northwest.
Winds Discussion: Winds will be generally at or less than 10 MPH and variable during the day. Winds during the night and morning hours will be generally less than 5 MPH with periods of near calm conditions through Saturday.
Rain Discussion: Expect dry conditions for at least the next 7 to 10 days.
