Scattered light showers have spread as far south as Fresno County today. However, rainfall amounts are pretty scant. This system will shift eastward, leading to dry weather tonight and more than likely through Friday. The chance of rain will again increase Friday night, especially after midnight which will be the lead in to an extended period of rainy weather, as if that was something new. Satellite imagery shows a parade of storms of different strengths and timing for central California. It appears there will be measurable precipitation every day next week with locally heavy precipitation over the mountain areas. For now, it doesn’t look like we’ll have a dynamic storm like the one that just passed, but storms that are moderately wet and a few with light precipitation. however, the rain will be falling on drenched soil so every drop that falls will run off. This, of course, means the threat of flooding will continue. It doesn’t look like we’ll have a dry stretch until the 19th through the 21st. even that is a shaky forecast as a couple of models are pointing to another storm for central California around the 22nd. There’s a bit of disagreement amongst models regarding a longer term forecast. One shows a big high moving into the Gulf of Alaska and a cut off low hovering over southern California while others simply show a dry pattern and still others show more precipitation. So stay tuned. Don’t touch that dial!
