A large ridge of upper level high pressure extends from off the southern California coast northward well into the gulf of Alaska. California remains right on the eastern edge of the high and, with a northerly flow aloft, the high will not be able to drive temperatures excessively above average. Even so, temperatures will remain in the lower 60s through Saturday for daytime highs. Over the weekend, a low will track from north to south across western Canada and into the Pacific Northwest Saturday. It will park right over north central California by Monday morning. Models continue to indicate that light snow showers will spread down the Sierra, however, the risk factor for rain on the valley floor is minimal, and even if precipitation did occur, no more than .10 will be measured on the valley floor. the air mass sliding southward behind the low early next week is quite cold. Frost appears likely beginning Tuesday morning and for several nights thereafter. More below in the frost discussion.
Forecast: Mostly clear and hazy with areas of night and morning fog and low clouds through Saturday night. Increasing cloudiness Sunday leading to a chance of widely scattered light showers Sunday night and Monday. partly cloudy Tuesday with patchy morning fog.

Wind Discussion: Winds will be generally at or less than 7 mph late mornings and afternoons and variable in nature. winds during the night and morning hours will be light with extended periods of near calm conditions through Saturday.
Rain: We are still tracking a weak low pressure system which will dive due southward from western Canada. expect dry weather through Monday with a minimal chance of light showers Sunday night and Monday. even if, by chance, this system does trigger a few showers, amounts would be no more than .10 and in all likelihood just trace amounts to a few hundredths. After Monday, several days of dry weather will follow.
Frost: Again this afternoon, we will post pretty much an identical forecast to those of the past few days. Coldest readings tonight in those traditional frost pockets will drop to 27 to 28 or so with most flat terrain locations from 29 to 33. I feel safe in dittoing that for Friday through Saturday mornings. We’re going to have to closely track an air mass which will swing in closely behind a weak little system Sunday and Monday. the origins of this air mass will come from western Canada. This far out, it appears unprotected areas as early as Tuesday could drop down to 26 to 27 to 28 to 31 generally speaking throughout the region. These temperatures are not in concrete at this time, however I do feel it’s worth mentioning for planning purposes. The inversion tonight will remain strong with temperatures at 34 feet ranging from 4 to 8 degrees warmer at most locations.
