Summary: Temperatures during the workweek will be generally running 3 to 5 degrees below average. We have a rather disorganized low stretching from off the coast of the Pacific Northwest down to west of the northern California coast. This trough will slide southeastward overhead tonight through Tuesday night. There will be a chance of light showers over the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada with dry conditions continuing over the valley floor. the marine layer will rapidly deepen and will surge inland tonight and Thursday, lowering temperatures 5 to 7 degrees below average. A pool of somewhat cooler air will also slide in overhead, lowering freezing levels. Light snow showers will fall down to roughly 7,000 feet. Beginning at mid week, a ridge of upper level high pressure will begin to build in from the west. By Friday, a ridge will extend over the eastern Pacific northeastward through the Pacific Northwest and into British Columbia. Rapid warming will begin Friday leading to an early s summer type weekend. Models indicate readings will warm into the upper 90s Sunday and Monday of next week with above average temperatures continuing for much of next week as a high dominates the eastern Pacific Ocean and much of the western US.
Forecast: Mostly clear today. Partly cloudy tonight through Tuesday night. Mostly clear with a warming trend Thursday through Monday.

Two Week Outlook: May 14 through May 20: This model shows above average temperatures covering roughly the western third of the US and central California. There is also some indication that some kind of storm will affect the Desert Southwest and possibly central California.
May: This model continues trends during the month of May that we saw in April. Pressures will be lower than average along the west coast, resulting in the chance of above average rainfall and below average temperatures
May, June, July: This model doesn’t really move the needle either way for temperatures and rainfall over the next three months.. being that we’re heading into the hot, dry season,, it means little anyway.
Wind Discussion: Winds from later this morning through the afternoon will be mainly out of the northwest at around 5 to 12 mph. winds tonight through Tuesday evening will increase out of the northwest to 10 to 20 mph. gusts to 30 mph will be possible, mainly along the west side but locally elsewhere. Winds Wednesday through Thursday will be mainly out of the northwest afternoons and evenings at 5 to 12 mph. Winds during the night and morning hours will be variable to no more than 8 mph with periods of near calm conditions.
Rain Discussion: Expect dry conditions for the next 5 to 10 days.
Mid afternoon dew points: Mid to upper 40s. Kern: Mid to upper 40s.
