Summary: The latest trough of low pressure is now moving through the Pacific Northwest. High clouds have spread as far south as Sacramento and a few high clouds may be visible here later this afternoon. Temperatures this afternoon will struggle towards seasonal values as temporarily the marine layer is too shallow to be a player. Weak ridging will keep temperatures around the 90 degree mark through Monday.
From Tuesday and through the remainder of next week, cooler than average temperatures can be expected as a fairly robust trough of low pressure moves into the Pacific Northwest and northern California. This will again generate a strong on shore flow, allowing marine air to move into the valley unhindered.
Once we get to Thursday through Saturday, a reinforcing trough will move inland. This system could result in scattered showers over parts of northern California and possibly the Sierra Nevada, but all the models point to dry conditions for central California.
It appears our next warming trend is a ways off as models show a trough lingering along the west coast through the twenty-fourth of this month then the possibility of much warmer temperatures shows up for the twenty-fifth through the twenty-sixth.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Wednesday. Mostly clear skies will continue Wednesday night through Saturday.

Two Week Outlook: September 22 through September 28: This model shows a pretty active pattern moving into the Pacific Northwest and clipping northern California. For now, it does not appear precipitation will affect central California, but this regime should keep temperatures near to slightly below average.
September: This model shows upper level high pressure more dominant over the western U.S. There’s no clear indicator of above or below average rainfall as we move into the fall season. With that in mind, we’ll call for near average precipitation for the month.
September, October, November: It appears temperatures overall will rise to above average values for the bulk of this time frame. Upper level high pressure is also more dominant with precipitation, believe it or not, predicted to be somewhat near average.
Winds: Winds will be generally less than 15 MPH with locally stronger gusts through Tuesday.
Rain: Expect dry conditions for the next 5 to 10 days.
Afternoon Dew Points Today: Low to mid 50s. Kern: Low to mid 50s.
