Summary: The center of circulation of upper level high pressure is right over northern California this morning with a weak low several hundred miles off the southern California coast. The counter clockwise circulation around the low has the winds at the mid and upper levels of the atmosphere out of the east. This has created a weak off shore flow. The only real evidence of this is locally gusty easterly winds over the summit of the Sierra Nevada and the Kern County mountains. Under the dome of high pressure, the usual inversion has developed above the valley floor, creating rather soupy conditions in the form of extensive haze. That will not change much for at least the next five days. Models do show the high over and off the west coast through the middle of next week, deflecting any Pacific storms well north.
We’ve been talking about the 15th and 16th for quite some time and it still appears a trough of low pressure will move through here about next Friday or Saturday. the bad news is most of the models show this system as a dry one with only a chance of showers over the high Sierra. This far out, there’s plenty of time for models to change their tune, and no doubt they will, but at the very least temperatures will return to seasonal values which, by then, will be in the mid to upper 60s for highs and upper 30s and 40s for lows.

Two Week Outlook: November 15 through November 21: This model does not give much hope for precipitation through mid November. Upper level high pressure will be dominant over the eastern Pacific and the western third of the U.S. for above average temperatures.
November: The greatest possibility of above average temperatures will stretch from Texas westward to southern California with somewhat above average temperatures expected for central California. This model also projects a drier than average month, especially over the northern half of the state.
December, January, February: This model, as it always does, indicates above average temperatures for much of the lower 48, especially over the southwestern U.S. This model also dashes somewhat the hope for a good rainfall season as it shows below average precipitation for the Pacific Northwest and much of California.
Winds: Winds will be generally at or less than 8 MPH with periods of near calm conditions through Monday.
Rain: Expect dry conditions for at least the next 7 to 10 days.
Frost Discussion: All locations will be above freezing tonight and each night for the foreseeable future.
Lows Tonight:
All locations will be above 32 tonight.
