Summary: The main center of upper level high pressure has now migrated a bit further west. It’s now parked over the Four Corners region of the Desert Southwest. A weak trough of low pressure is over Nevada and extends into eastern Oregon. The air above the valley floor is typically warm for late July. The temperature at Sandburg at an elevation of 4,100 feet is 70 degrees this morning. in the meantime, along the coast the marine layer has been hovering at around 1,600 feet.
There is some sea breeze trickling through the Delta. At last report, winds at Travis Air Force Base were out of the southwest at 23 MPH. However, through Pacheco Pass, winds are dead calm. The Four Corners high will shift over Arizona and southern California during the next 72 hours for yet another heat wave over the desert regions. Central California will remain on the northwest flank of the high, continuing a dry flow aloft.
Temperatures this week will be marginally above average as the high to our southeast will be the main player. Most days through the weekend will range between 99 and 104 at most locations, just a tad above average for late July and early August.

Two Week Outlook: August 3 through August 9: Upper level high pressure will be entrenched over the Desert Southwest. The monsoon will be active over Arizona and possibly even into southern California. Temperatures under this regime will run marginally above average with no rain expected.
August: Typically, especially this time of year, long range outlooks by NOAA reflect the global warming madness. This model indicates above average temperatures and largely dry conditions.
August, September, October: Just like the 30 day outlook, this longer range outlook reflects above average temperatures everywhere, including California. This model does not reflect either above or below average precipitation, although as we head into September we will have to keep a closer eye on the tropics.
Winds Discussion: Winds through this evening will be mainly out of the northwest at 8 to 15 MPH with stronger gusts, mainly along the west side.
