Summary: After a day of sub 90 temperatures, readings will once again start to trend upward as the pool of marine air begins to mix out. Temperatures at most locations this morning are running about 3 to 5 degrees higher than 24 hours ago. The marine layer at Monterey has dropped roughly 1,000 feet since yesterday at this time. At last report, winds at Travis Air Force Base in the Delta were out of the southwest at just 5 MPH. the trough of low pressure responsible for the brief cooldown will weaken further and will be nudged off shore this weekend as upper level high pressure over the Desert Southwest expands back towards the west coast. This high will not be especially strong, however Sunday and Monday, hottest locations will climb into the lower 100s. by the middle of next week, another weak trough of low pressure will move into northern California for a minor cooling trend. The winds aloft next week will continue to be mainly out of the southwest with virtually cloudless skies continuing. The only exception will be some buildups over the high Sierra. Even an isolated thunderstorm or two over the back country can be expected.
Forecast: Clear skies and cooler through Saturday. Clear skies will continue Saturday night through Friday.

Two Week Outlook: August 14 through August 20; This model indicates upper level high pressure over the desert southwest will be the more dominant feature, resulting in at least marginally above average temperatures. The monsoon is still nowhere to be found, so dry dusty conditions will continue.
August: Typically, especially this time of year, long range outlooks by NOAA reflect the global warming madness. This model indicates above average temperatures and largely dry conditions.
August, September, October: Just like the 30 day outlook, this longer range outlook reflects above average temperatures everywhere, including California. This model does not reflect either above or below average precipitation, although as we head into September, we will have to keep a closer eye on the tropics.
Winds Discussion: Winds Friday through Monday will be mainly out of the northwest at 5 to 12 MPH afternoons and evenings and 3 to 6 MPH nights and early mornings with periods of near calm conditions.
Rain Discussion: Expect dry conditions for the next 7 to 10 days.
