There is quite a bit of fog this morning, mainly along the west side of the valley stretching from near Lost Hills on the south to north of Los Banos on the north. The remainder of the valley has patchy fog, but is generally mostly clear. Upper level high pressure stretches from the eastern Pacific to the Yukon Territory. Embedded within this high is a weak upper low just off the northern California coast which will slide down to about Santa Maria by Tuesday night. It will then drop further south into northern Baja as it opens up into a trough. There’s no active weather with this system, however the circulation pattern around the ow will maintain an off shore flow, resulting in gusty northeast winds over the high Sierra with no real impact on the valley floor. Cold air will continue to slide southward around the eastern side of the high into the Rocky Mountain region, staying far enough to the east to maintain the status quo with temperatures warming into the low 60s during the afternoons and low to mid 30s during the overnight hours with pockets of frost.
Forecast: Areas of late night and morning fog, mainly towards the center and west side of the valley. Otherwise it will be mostly clear through Thursday. The same for the remainder of the week through Monday: hazy night and morning fog with some afternoon clearing.

Two Week Outlook: November 21 through November 27: This model reverts us back into somewhat above average temperatures during this period. The risk of rain during this time frame appears to be pretty high, especially for northern California.
November: As far as temperatures are concerned for November, this model shows a 50/50 chance of above or below average temperatures. Playing it safe. The good news is above average precipitation is anticipated.
November, December, January: If this model comes to fruition, temperatures will range marginally above average. This model draws a line of wet and dry weather for California with above average rainfall for the northern part of the state and dryer than average rainfall over the southern half of the state. The line goes right through Fresno County.
Wind Discussion: Winds through early this evening will be out of the northwest at around 8 to 15 5mph with locally stronger gusts. Winds later tonight through Thursday will generally be at or less than 10 mph with periods of near calm conditions.
Rain: Expect dry conditions indefinitely.
Frost: Overnight lows are running a degree or so colder than the previous night. Coldest I could find was 30 degrees at both Sanger and McFarland with Arvin chilling to 29. The rest of the citrus belt saw readings in the low to mid 30s. pretty much a carbon copy can be expected tonight with perhaps some slight moderation coming up Wednesday and Thursday. Even so, widespread low to mid 30s will continue with coldest low lying locations teasing with the upper 20s.. Fog is more extensive than I’ve seen it so far this year, however, high resolution models show most of the fog to be on the west side of the valley, due to a continuing off shore flow. Models show us warming into the mid 60s Friday and through the weekend. However, as long as dew points remain in the upper 30s to the lower 40s during the afternoon, fairly strong radiational cooling will continue as will low to mid 30s.
