Upper level high pressure continues to be displaced farther east this morning and is now centered over Arkansas. A big low sits off the coast of the Pacific Northwest with a trough hanging southward into California. This is continuing somewhat below average temperatures for the first week of July. The high over the middle of the country will slowly retrograde back towards the west coast as the week wears on. Temperatures will respond accordingly. By Friday, temperatures will have risen to near average values then will rise to above average over the weekend and for the first few days of next week as readings again rise into triple digits.
Forecast: Mostly clear skies through Friday. Mostly clear Friday night through Tuesday with a slow warming trend.

Two Week Outlook: July 9 through July 15 A broad expanse of high pressure centered over the Desert Southwest will move back overhead during this period for above average temperatures. Monsoon moisture may trigger afternoon and evening thunderstorms over the Sierra Nevada with occasional clouds over the valley floor.
June: This model shows a high center over New Mexico and Texas extending into California for marginally above average temperatures for the month with the usual dry conditions prevailing.
June, July, August: This model is hinting at a possible active monsoon season this year once we get into July and August. It’s possible we could see more than the usual amount of afternoon and evening thunderstorms over the Sierra Nevada but the valley will be typically dry with above average temperatures.
Wind Discussion: Winds will be mainly out of the northwest afternoons and evenings at around 8 to 15 mph. Local gusts to near 25 mph can be expected, mainly along the west side. Winds will decrease Friday to around 5 to 12 mph with stronger afternoon gusts.
Rain: Expect dry conditions for the next 7 to 10 days.
Frost: All locations will be above freezing tonight and each night for the foreseeable future.
